TAKIS
1925 - 2019
“I hope that someone seeing my sculpture is lifted out of his ordinary state.”
Panayiotis Vassilakis, also known as Takis, was a Greek artist best known for his kinetic sculptures. Throughout his career, he has created some of the most innovative artworks of the 20th century and was considered as a key figure in the artistic and literacy circles of Paris, London and New-York. His work aimed to reveal invisible energies such as magnetism and gravity for a better understanding of our environment.
We chose Takis to be part of our collection not only because he is a pioneer of the kinetic art but also because of the way he has got inspired by the city of Paris to produce his iconic Signals sculptures.
