Chiharu Shiota is a Japanese artist well-known for her performative installations, drawings, sculptures, photography and videos. Living and working in Berlin since 1997, she creates artworks made of threads that require the mental and physical engagement of the viewer. Her unforgettable universe explores human concerns such as life, death, memory and the power of absence.
At the present time, Shiota is regarded as one of the most influential artist in the contemporary art world. She perfectly combines an Eastern point of view on several themes with a Western use of various art practices.
