ANTONY GORMLEY

b. 1950

“In this virtual digital age, sculpture remains a vital way of questioning the world that we have made and the earth we made it out of.”

Born and based in London, Antony Gormley is a British artist widely acclaimed for his sculptures and installations that confront fundamental questions of where human bodies stand in relation to space. Interested in making sculptures about being rather than doing, his artworks invite viewers to contemplate their surrounding environment as well as the elementary mortality of life.

Greatly influenced by Buddhism for decades, we consider that Antony Gormley undeniably contributes to the conversation between Eastern and Western cultures.
